In commemoration of the 64th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) first adopted on December 10, 1948, The 64 Day Campaign for Human Rights is an opportunity to highlight the important human rights work that our members and partners are engaged in. Every December 10th, otherwise known as International Human Rights Day, we reaffirm and celebrate economic, social, cultural, political and civil rights. In the 64 days leading up to the 64th anniversary of the UDHR on December 10, 2012, we will highlight 64 member and partner organizations.
Each week we will focus on important issues and bring attention to the mission and work of seven organizations. The issues include the rights of Indigenous Peoples and Nations, poverty, disability rights, racial justice, police brutality, immigrant and border rights, housing, healthcare, voter’s rights, environmental justice, the gulf coast, LGBTQI rights, gender and reproductive rights, worker’s rights, and education.
Because these rights are interdependent and interrelated, we need everyone to help us get the message out. So, follow and share the 64 Day Campaign for Human Rights features on Facebook, Twitter, and through our mailing list. Our hope is that you will support these organizations by promoting their work, donating to their cause, and/or joining their fight—they are, after all, working for all of our human rights.
